I saw this code and wondered what bind result did and what purpose it serves?

 

 $color = "purple"; $stmt = $mysqli->stmt_init(); if ($stmt->prepare("SELECT FirstName, LastName FROM Friends WHERE FavoriteColor = ?")) { $stmt->bind_param("s" $color); $stmt->execute(); $stmt->bind_result($firstname, $lastname);
