ober
Do any of you use any kind of weather service on your site? I'm trying to integrate a weather service into a SMF installation and I'm not sure who to go with. I'm looking for something that will take a zip code from a profile field and show a 5 day forecast, or maybe just the current weather or "today and tomorrow"... something along those lines.Any suggestions appreciated. Daniel0
You could parse an RSS feed and use some regex on weater.com's RSS feeds. Eg: http://rss.weather.com/weather/rss/local/<ZIP_HERE> Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/30250-weather-on-your-site/#findComment-139124 Share on other sites
ober
I case anyone is interested, I am currently parsing this: http://rss.weather.com/weather/rss/local/44039The result is this: http://www.whproductions.com/dev/weather/With a little more styling, that's going to work out ok. My only bitch is that the feed doesn't contain the weather conditions at night... just the temp.EDIT: I'll post the code for it if anyone is interested. ober
It's another SMF board... the client requested it and I'm actually finding it quite handy :) Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/30250-weather-on-your-site/#findComment-139652 Share on other sites
.josh
ic. well me personally, if i want to know what the weather is like, I get up and open the front door. I don't really trust weather forecasts all that much. .josh
not entirely random; a general thought, stemming from your comment..Man, sometimes I feel like life is like a giant boat going downstream, and everybody has a paddle and is paddling as fast and hard as they can to make the boat go downstream even faster...except for me. I'm in the same boat with everybody else, and I'm paddling too, only I'm trying to paddle upstream, against everybody else, against even the current itself. :(<keeps paddling> Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/30250-weather-on-your-site/#findComment-139737 Share on other sites
SharkBait
I have a plugin for Firefox that tells me the current, upcoming and tomorrows weather. It's nice to have, though with a skylight above my head I can tell the weather too ;) Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/30250-weather-on-your-site/#findComment-139742 Share on other sites
