one is 'dynamic' and the other "isn't" DHTML is basically html combined with css and javascript to make a page that are 'dynamic'

This is of course a load of cod's wallop - use css and javascript should NOT be a prerequisite for your site to function. CSS and javascript are used on plenty of pages so you COULD call all of those pages dhtml.

DHTML is NOT a language like html - it is the use of three separate technologies together to create highly interactive web pages.
