[SOLVED] Borders to fix CSS

are there any negatives to using borders of the same background color to fix major alignment issues in IE or fire fox.

Example? Typically, if simply adding a border fixes an alignment issue, there is more wrong than initially meets the eye. Because of the way IE and FF handle margins, padding and border widths differently, you're better off trying to get it another way. However, when it comes right down to it, if it's valid and it works across all the common browsers, I really don't care how you do it ;)
