i meant if the loop did 400 results the 200th result would have extra output....

I realized I could divide it by 2 but was wondering how to make the number not a decimal number(if there was 200.5 it would be 200 instead)...

to avoid decimals use round()

as an idea, what about getting the number of results and divide that by 2 then if the counter is greater than that do the other thing

ie

if( $recnum <= ($totalrec/2))
{echo "firstset";}else{echo "lastset";}
