There are slight differences between SSL and TLS, but the protocol remains substantially the same. As you can see is SSL good for security. neylitalo Posted December 6, 2007 Share Posted December 6, 2007 Create your own - it's far cheaper (free!), and the level of security is the same. You never have to pay for an SSL certificate, only for a "trusted" one. Here is a guide to creating your own SSL certificates in a Unix-like environment. The problem may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you sent to the server. We recommend you close this webpage. It's just it is not issued by a trusted issuer and therefore it were not possible to verify who you are. It is therein it is not safe - e.g. to enter credit card information to a random person on the internet except somebody whose identity has been confirmed by a trusted company (e.g. VeriSign). And what's worse is now the new Internet Explorer and Vista FLASH warnings to close browser and also that the site is not secure which puts that much more scare in the person visiting the site.
