trq
rsync (the underlying engine of rsnapshot) uses ssh to transfer files, so unless you have shell access to the ftp server, it probably not the best solution.
manolo_asdf
is there another good backup option for transferring to ftp?
steviewdr
Yes - Duplicity. Duplicity will allow you to backup via FTP. Not only does it use FTP or SCP etc. it will also allow you to encrypt your backups It also uses the rsycn under the covers so you have incremental backups, so you can roll back 1 day or 10 days etc. Read more: http://wiki.kartbuilding.net/index.php/Duplicity_-_secure_incremental_backup I recommend it 100% and it works perfect for encrypting my files and then transferring them onto a remote unsecure ftp backup server, incrementally. -steve
