Snatch
Hello! I'm writting a dissertation on PHP I was just wondering if anyone knew of any large companies that use PHP web sites? Preferrably e-commerce sites. Thanks for any input!
Daniel0
Yahoo, Digg and Facebook do for instance. They're pretty large.
Snatch
Thanks Daniel, i'm aware of Facebook but didn't realise Yahoo and Digg use PHP. Does anyone know of any large e-commerce sites using PHP though? For example an amazon type site.
Snatch
Does anyone think ebuyer could be developed in PHP?
Daniel0
Seeing as http://www.ebuyer.com/index.php works and other extensions such as .asp, .html, .py, .pl etc. don't, I'd say yes, Ebuyer is created using PHP as well.

phpSensei
Google. Google doesn't use PHP. How do you know? Have you seen the actual GOOGLE coding? I put GOOGLe, so he would search some there.
neylitalo
Google. Google doesn't use PHP. How do you know? Have you seen the actual GOOGLE coding? I put GOOGLe, so he would search some there. I would be very, very surprised if Google used PHP. PHP isn't efficient enough to handle Google's needs - it's more likely a far more efficient language like python, perl, or even a compiled language. Daniel0
Google. Google doesn't use PHP. How do you know? Have you seen the actual GOOGLE coding? No, but some of their pages end on .py. And as neylitalo said, I quite sure they use some compiled programs behind the scene.
