Some frontend suggestions. https://kiwiirc.com/ https://qwebirc.org/ http://www.lightirc.com/ I'll be as blunt as I can, to make irc actually be useful and secure it needs some work and also paid mods installed. While some attempted to make a php frontend for irc, I have found none that work well. It's not that easy for the polling/refresh, isn't made for php really.
