Ah, okay. Admin needs to do that. I don't have perms.

I nearly went bald because of all the hair I pulled out. And I've done it for 5 or so servers for their own email service. Each one presented its own problems.
-
I don't see that one either? Are you sure it actually posted?

We're not trying to be discouraging for everything. We want to make sure you can complete a project that's on your level first. I've personally seen too many people come in and learn to code and after a week they attempt to make something way over their head. A few days later you typically have one of two situations on your hand: the first is they post a billion help messages and everybody else ends up writing the code for them (thus, they don't learn) or secondly, they get too frustrated and leave. Both of those situations rarely help the original person. Now, if you're generally interested in how it works, that's cool. The engineer in me really kicks in whenever I get to tinker with things or I see something cool and I always want to know how it works. The same applies to code, and for some it can really be intriguing to see how it works. However in this case, from my understanding you only have a few (2?) months of PHP under your belt and no other programming experience that you've made us aware of. So seeing the first line "I am intending to build my own email service", I tend to think you want to do it for more than just seeing how it works. I absolutely hate setting up Postfix/dovecot. No matter what I do, something ALWAYS goes wrong

You're talking about the one(s) you posted ~3 weeks ago, yah?

Seeing/using mail is one thing (which btw is not an email service itself)... but building your own email service is an entirely different thing. Don't try to run before you can crawl

I doubt php6 will be released anytime soon, mainly because of exactly what wiki says - most of the features that were to be released in 6 are now in 5.3/5.4

Anyone know where I can get a font/tutorial to make something like this
Philip replied to Andy-H's topic in Miscellaneous
~$400 http://www.fontlab.com/font-editor/fontographer/ I haven't seen a font like that before tbh, but how much of that font-face would be used? You might as well just make a few static images by hand if there aren't many places it'll be used. -

http://chrispederick.com/work/web-developer/ is an invaluable tool for web development. There is an option to clear cookies based on the type (session, domain, or path) and to disable them - in one easy to reach place. PS - If you logout and you are forwarded to page with session_start() at the top, another PHP Session cookie will appear. PSS - I'm failing today. Feel free to ignore me.

Need a good internet phone service, I think
Philip replied to floridaflatlander's topic in Miscellaneous
I used skype for a long time with a call-to number, which allowed people to call me based off a number. I could also call via my phone when it was on a wifi, acting as a handheld phone for the house. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it got the job done. I've heard good things about Vonage, but I can't say I've ever used them. -
I don't hate I admit that I played SC2 for a few days. At the time all people would do is zergling rush you, so the game would be over in 2 min. I got frustrated with that and promptly left.

Ewwww, startcraft?

Yeah, I went with namecheap. I do hate having to drop a couple hundred bucks for renewing the domains, but meh. It'll be worth it to get away from godaddy.
-
Yup, which is also another reason. Cheers Dan for the reddit link. It's rare when I visit reddit

I'm kinda surprised we don't have a sticky on this and there haven't been many topics on this for a few years... so here we are! Here is a compiled list: www.namecheap.com www.name.com www.dynadot.com www.gandi.net www.easydns.com www.dyndns.com www.domainnameshop.com www.dd24.net http://domains.ausweb.com.au/
