well you could cut it into 7 pieces. But we americans are pretty stupid. We'd fail to realize it's the same amount of pizza and flood the pizza place with calls about getting shorted a slice.
-
all the major pizza places do 8 for medium 12 for large.
-
I think they should have opted to do a 7 piece chicken nugget meal with McD's instead (regular one comes with 6)

CHECH A STRING FOR ' " ' (DOUBLE QUOTES)
.josh replied to [email protected]'s topic in PHP Coding Help
This is a joke, right? No joke. Even though a lot of people can't be bothered with giving details about their problem or following advice, etc.. the customer is nonetheless always right. Therefore we expect all staff members to be psychic, in order to cater to this. That way, users not posting relevant stuff is no longer an issue. -

MadTechie this is your final warning. If you cannot learn to be psychic I am demoting you. -
i played silkroad for a bit. wasn't all that impressed. my bro got into it for a while. People hate on WoW saying it's a grindfest. pfft, silkroad is like 100% grindfest. One of the things I liked about it was it was one of the first games (that I know of anyways) to offer paying for certain amenities. Come on, having a personal monkey run around grabbing your loot (and other peoples' loot!) is awesome. I liked how you could setup a personal store but they painfully needed to also add a centralized store/auction house. The last time I played lineage was beta testing lineage 2. Seemed like there was no real direction involved in playing. Always felt like I was aimlessly running around trying to figure out what to do next. I guess some people get off to that sort of thing more than others. I like open-ended content once you've reached the top but I prefer a good story line for the journey there. I played WoW for about 4 years. Went through all the dungeons and raids, got all the top pve and pvp gear, epic mounts, maxed professions, blahblah for 4, almost 5 characters for original and then BC. Literally nothin' left to do. Quit playing about a month before WotLK came out. Gave the trial of it a fair shot. Heart just wasn't in it no more. Haven't played since. On that note, anybody wanna buy a WoW account? j/k. The 'cartoony' graphics is a deal-killer for most people, but personally I liked it. Most people I know started out saying the same but got used to it after a while and came to like it. Especially when you start paying attention to the details. Things the NPCs say, certain items, quests, etc... Blizz has a pretty decent sense of humor, and once you get into it and look for those easter eggs, it's pretty enjoyable. I, and a lot of others, felt like Blizz sold out though. I still have high hopes for D3 though. They better fuckin' deliver on that.

PugJr...so what exactly is your point? If Microsoft never existed, there would just be some other company people would be bitching about. People always bitch about the people on top. Look at everything else in the world as an example.
-
PugJr I don't think you're really being fair in your assessment of MS vs. XXX. - IE continues to dominate the market, which is why people are always bitching about having to cater to early versions of it. Or catering to even the new versions of it, despite them not "adhering the standards". OT: If you virtually owned the market on something, and all of a sudden a bunch of little guys get together and decide amongst themselves to make a "standard" so they can all work nice together, but even collectively they are still the minority, and then this minority turns around and declares their "standard" as the, well, standard, what would you do? Especially when they try to bad-mouth you for not following this "standard."? You can't honestly say you'd act any different than microsoft. You'd be like uh..who the fuck are you guys trying to tell me what to do? People adopt that attitude even when they are the minority. That is not to say that the "standard" is a bad idea. But adhering to what the minority considers standard would be bad business for the people in the majority. Majority rules. Microsoft has no good business reason to bow down to the so-called "standards". Quickly losing market share? Sure. Like I said, I don't think these "standards" are bad. But think about it. If Microsoft were to over-night release a browser 100% 'standards' compliant, and did everything they could to get people to upgrade (which they could very effectively do), what happens then? IE is now on the same level as everybody else. People will be more willing and likely to look at others. IE's % start dropping. I called it right here: Microsoft's stance and strategy is that they are the majority, the standards are good, so their numbers will go down regardless, but it would go down much faster to outright comply. Hold out until their shit is about the same as everybody else's %'s, then comply. Then you'll see them start to dip their fingers in the pie as far as being a part of these "standards". - Bing.com is relatively new. Google has been around forever. Of course google.com has a much bigger presence as far as search engines. I think it's kind of funny how your main argument for everything else is "there's an alternative". Well the shoe is on the other foot in this case. Bing.com is the alternative. But you are nonetheless poking at it. Seems kind of double-standard to me... - Microsoft Office is used by like 95% of the business world. There's a reason why the mac vs. pc commercials stereotype pc as a dull guy in a business suit. 100 poor stoners using some "hip, cool" alternative, or 10 business guys with $$ in their pockets. Do the math.

so...just to make sure I understand: You just finished highschool, will have a ton of free time on your hands, need to save up money to move out, don't have a job, but you are looking to find a free game to play. While I can personally vouch for MMO's filling up your free time, I don't think they will really help you out in the saving up money to move out dept... how about instead of looking for an MMO, you look for a job. Treat it like an MMO. Going to work and taking out the garbage is a quest. Flipping 80 burgers during lunch rush is a quest. End of the week you get your quest reward: your paycheck (will probably not be in gold). You get armor and everything (they will call it a uniform).

go to one of the major credit cards' website. i'm sure they probably have some kind of info somewhere on their site about it.
-
okay but we are also saying to not only use more real estate, but to also simplify the content. Info overload comes from too much information, not bigger layout. People who barely turn on computers like big, easy to spot things.

umm...no keyboard? having to scroll around for every single letter? fuck that noise. <3 onion

hmmm...I watched the video for the magic mouse; seems basically to do the same thing as my mousepad on my laptop, only on a mouse. Can't say I was all that impressed...

google sets the standard for valid markup?

my intention was not to insult your html/css expertise. My intention was to question your reasoning for your project ordering. Your reasoning was that you did it on purpose to force people to notice the shadowing. I was pointing out that that's not really the primary purpose of a site like that, and people aren't scrolling down to notice features, they are scrolling down to find info. On your site you even said you have like 15s to grab someone by the balls so to speak. So why are you making it harder for them to find what they are looking for? Good design is not just about making something look good. It's about getting your point across; communicating. It's like if I were to go to a car dealership and I'm walking around the showroom, and I ask the salesman about the mpg on a car or how it rates in the crash tests etc... and instead he's trying to show me all the shiny buttons and stuff. That's what I feel like your site is doing, the purpose of that comment. That's my opinion, take it or leave it. If you disagree and think it's fine, then okay. I have no issues with disagreeing. But when you're like "I am a html/css master I know what I'm doing" sort of thing, it sounds snippy and more like you aren't interested in being critiqued. I think maybe you just took it the wrong way and both of us have been progressively making it out to be a much bigger deal than it is.
-
ive said nothing snippy. i have done nothing more then explain my point of view. "I just learned a neat trick and I want to show it off." is more snippy then anything i have siad. please dont start trying to get my thread closed, if it makes you uncomfortable i disagree with you then stop posting on it. I don't have a problem with you disagreeing with me. But responding to "you should do xyz" with "I think I know what I'm doing, I'm a master" is a snippy way of disagreeing. I don't even care if you wanna be snippy about it. I didn't say "don't be snippy or I'll close the thread." I said, "If you're going to respond like that, why bother even asking for people's opinions?"
-
you asked for opinion and I (and others) are giving it. No need to get snippy about things. If you are going to respond to criticism by saying you know what you're doing because you mastered blahblah why bother making a thread like this? Makes me think you're really just looking for a pat on the back.
-
Do you really feel that shadowed tops and bottoms are more important than showing the most relevant, appealing info first? If the user is scrolling down, it's to look for relevant information, not to notice random things like that. IMO your reasoning screams "I just learned a neat trick and I want to show it off." You should be putting those "neat tricks" into your actual work. Your website should show off your skills, yes, but that is not the primary purpose of your portfolio/business site. Also, I feel your page is a bit cramped. If you really wanna make it that small, I suggest having a single, bigger preview image for each site, have only 1 show at a time, and have simple prev/next arrows that slide the next one in.

we are working on a snippet repo for the main site.

you are getting the exact same error on the exact same line?

actually if you are just looking to only replace a single quote, use str_replace

so when you are saying it is dying now, do you mean that TEST is still not displaying, even though you moved it below the echo? That means your condition is not evaluating true. do you have session_start(); somewhere before that condition? If so, echo out your session var, does it hold what you expect (and it is higher than 2)?
