  1. No, as I said, when they rolled it out, some new videos had it as well, so I'm quite sure that's not the case. On the DreamHost thing, I figured I might share the link to a blog post I made about it: http://degeberg.com/2008/12/dreamhost-to-infinity-and-beyond/
  2. It would seem like they are storing the files as they were uploaded. Otherwise they couldn't suddenly supply high quality and later HD versions of previously uploaded videos.
  3. Yeah well, seems like you forgot to read the fine print: http://dreamhost.com/unlimited.html "File upload / sharing / archive / backup / mirroring / distribution sites" and "Making your account resources available (whether for free or pay) to the general public" is not allowed. As far as I can tell, your site violates that. I believe you also once said that you provide a free host service and file upload service. Basically there are plenty of reasons for terminating your accounts. As I said: They give you "unlimited" because the only types of sites that would use up a lot of diskspace and bandwidth are not allowed. They still earn money though because of all the gullible people who think that there exists a such thing as unlimited anything.
  4. You uncheck the box next to it.
  5. Edit > Preferences > Code Hints > Close tags: Never Edit > Preferences > Code Format > Automatic Wrapping
  6. Why does "MySQL help" fit better under "PHP Help" than "SQL / Database Forums"?
  7. I don't have a bandwidth limit. Yes you do. There is a physical barrier on how fast the hardware can transfer the data. Anyone who think they can get unlimited bandwidth are ignorant. Do you think you can get "unlimited" for $5.95/month on your dreamhost account while huge sites like Youtube spend $1,000,000/month1? 1http://www.forbes.com/intelligentinfrastructure/2006/04/27/video-youtube-myspace_cx_df_0428video.html
  8. Your host has probably supplied you with a set of domain servers (DNS) that you need to setup in your Godaddy domain control panel. Once you've done that then it will take up to 24-48 hours for the changes to propagate across the internet. My experience is that most of the times it's much lower though, like a couple of hours. It sounds like Dreamweaver is asking for your FTP login credentials. Just enter those. The folder on the server you are storing your files in is probably called either public_html, htdocs, or www.
  9. Yes, but it's only enabled for topics with up to 45 posts.
  10. It's just a core SMF feature I turned on though... Thanks anyway I guess.
  11. Blerh, I would just import it so I wouldn't have to generate it. Unless importing would take significantly longer than what ever method I would use to generate data. I can assure you that I'm not doing that for PHP Freaks for instance. Why dump, download, and import 1 GB of data when I can just run the SMF installer on my computer and get a user. That's all I need anyway (well, I need the groups for the ACL, but that's it).
  12. It's pretty trivial to do using session_set_save_handler.
  13. Oh I knew that. But then again, PHPFreak's resources are far more powerful than somebody who is just launching a new website. Oh, yeah, but it's the forums too, so anyone running SMF will be storing session data in the table. We have more resources because we get more hits. A site with less hits will require less resources as well.
  14. All sessions here are stored in the database.
  15. You wouldn't even need to import the database. Just make some dummy staging data if you need.
  16. You can usually skin the various forum software to make it look like you want. There are a few posts around here talking about free and paid forum software.
  17. We are, but this is a problem with SMF and/or Google Chrome, neither of which we have any control over. SMF bug reports go to SMF, Google Chrome reports go to Google Chrome. Bug reports about anything we have created go to us. Generally, bug reports go to whomever that created the product/software, not to somebody else.
  18. Or go to SMF's support forums. They are the ones who are supplying the forum software after all.
  19. They are just joke posts. I've seen some of them posted elsewhere as well.
  20. I supposed he meant that after he had deployed it on the client's server that he fears the client would change the password thus preventing him from removing it again should the client choose not to pay. Btw, --$points for not properly citing sources of quotations.
  21. Maybe in your ideal world you can always get money back if you feel you've been wronged. It doesn't always work like that in the real world though. There is shit on the TV all the time about people getting screwed over by some contractor. Here we are not just talking your $200, but tens of thousands of dollars... lost. Sometimes the person you pay may just disappear with the money. You are the one missing my point actually. Your client doesn't want to get ripped off either so logically he will want to hold the funds before he has got what he is going to pay for. Likewise do you want to hold the funds because you don't want to get ripped off either. That's a catch-22 because you obviously cannot both hold the funds. The solution is that neither of you hold the funds and let a legal trustee in form of an escrow agent do it instead. This will ensure you that the money exist and it'll also ensure your client that you won't run away with the money. They funds won't be released until both parties have agreed to. And you need to get a legally binding contract as well of course.
  22. Why are you more trustworthy than your client?
