  1. Has anyone ever considered the possiblity that CV might be an emo girl? Look at that font and look at his avatar from a year back that was like some emo faerie thing.

And just read his last post? Also, how is it that he is the only one on this topic without the blue circle with an arrow through it?

EDIT: How do I get one of those blue circles with an arrow through it for my account?

  2. [tex]\sum_{n = 0}^\infty \frac{1}{n!} = \lim_{n\to\infty} \left(1+\frac{1}{n}\right)^n = e[/tex]

Testing...Hey thats cool. I think I'm gonna impress some newbies with that. Maybe get some forum points or something.

  3. And edit again...Jeez its a good thing there is that edit button.

    Maq, don't you mean: http://www.uploadfast.isgreat.org/index/ ?

Anyways, I really don't understand the point of another image site. Just my personal opinion, but you aren't going to make any business with it.

Edit: Edit for the fourth time! Woo. Anyways, also its a bit ironic that on the index page there is an image that isn't working.  :D

  4. CV, guess you'd hate me as I mysql_real_escape_string everything that a user sends that goes into the DB. Also, how much more efficent can an "integrity check" be than mysql_real_escape_string everything that a user submits?

Is there a tutorial on this issue that people have made or something? I am quite unaware, apparently.

  5. Well, generally "imdb" hints to the search engine that I'm talking about a movie and which I do for google, but I suppose with this engine it would be a bit redundant.

Okay, so I type lost in the search engine. First two results are garbage, and the next 8 are about the lost evidence, lost communism, napoleon and his lost army, etc. etc. etc.

I'm trying to find information related to "Lost" the series on your search engine, but I'm having some difficulties.

  6. Well, if you are wanting a shared spot, expect garbage, as thats what you are paying for. If your site ever moves from absoulte nothing, you will break the TOS one way or another.

I assume this topic is talking about shared (Considering people are talking about unlimited bandwidth and such which never gets advertised in dedicated servers.), so anyways, what is needed? Compare top 5 results of a "good" shared hosting company. They almost all have the same exact features. Honestly, if you want something stable, you really can't go around paying $5.

Actually, I'd just go with what your friends/pals rate other web hosting providers. I've heard of good results from someone I know from renting a spot in dreamhost.com and then I've heard of horrid results from renting a spot in gate.com, as they all offer the same exact things.

  7. My computer isn't exactly spot on new anyways and having 1 GB of ram is what people would have had a few years back anyways, correct?

But CV does have a valid point about that reformatting would make my computer faster, so yeah vista probably isn't any faster than XP.

Ken2k7, what OS do you suggest that beats XP/Vista for normal users? Vista is like the Mac OS of PC. Its so easy to use as all you have to do is install windows update and get all of your drivers.

  8. I haven't heard any specific hate to vista in phpfreaks.com but certain places act like vista is worse than most OSes.

I like vista, lets you have more RAM (Well, consumes more but raises the cap on it.). Also, I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this or if its just my imagination, but do internet pages seem to load faster with it? I recently reformatted from XP to Vista and everything seems to be faster (Except computer games.).

The greatest feature of Vista is the computer score rating. I loved it when I got a 1.0 on gaming graphics. I think the system is 1.0-10.

So what is the big hate over vista? I really don't see whats so bad with it. (Excluding that older things (Not like DOS old but like win2000 old) don't seem to run to effectivly. Well and also the occasional pop-up from the O.S. saying something and that it takes 10 GBs to install the O.S. but HD space is cheap.)

  9. It boggles my mind why so many people always skip the most obvious choice when they want to learn PHP.

Primarily intimidation, secondarily, most (All?) new programmers don't want to read every detail about a language. They want to start off on the easy stuff. Now would going to php.net and looking through documentation be easier or harder than lets say having a guide that gives step by step on what people actually want to know?

I'm not saying I'm good or anything at PHP but just from my experience and what I've done and how little I've read of actual PHP documentation, I can still do a few things. I've probably avoided 99.9% of it. Is it really that bad? Sure, I could've missed something important here or there, but you can sum it up pretty well.

To sum up my post to those who don't like to read: New people don't want to be fully entrenched in the language. They want to start off simple. php.net from what I found is not simple. Just my take on it atleast.

  10. Argh, the edit button went away!  :'(

Okay...Anyways CV, I just read his previous posts and now I see why you acted the way you did. He said he wanted to slit his throat. No one likes an emo.

  11. Well, possibly you could give him a test to see if he can:

I can write just about anything you want in PHP but for some reason.

First off see if he has any creditablity. You never know, right? ;)

EDIT: CV, did you really learn from php.net?

  12. No point. I use FF2 for less secure and pop-up and banner type sites because FF runs slow on my computer. (I got an old computer). While IE runs faster but can't do anything against pop-ups, banners, etc.

So IE is more of my business like browser whereas FF is for more of a "google searching" browser.

I heard IE 8 has quite a few problems though and IE 7 has been doing fine. (Well, for the most part. :P)

  13. What was better than IE 6 at the time? The only two browsers I was aware of back then was Netscape 2.0 and IE 6.0. And IE 6.0 completely massacred Netscape. So why all this unneeded hate? Its like putting down the old man.

Not to start a browser war or anything, but I'm using IE 7 right now as I'm typing this.  ;)
