koolaidman52
[a href=\"http://btcartoons.uni.cc\" target=\"_blank\"]BTcartoons.uni.cc[/a]So it's not even an actual domain name, not even a paid hosting plan but, I have put a fiar amount of time into my site. Basically its the site where I post the cartoons of myself and 2 buddies. The "tray" thing at the bottoms going to be changed, to look more like the navigation thing, so dont fret over that. I really just want to know what you think, therea are a whopping 4 pages(notincluding subpages) so you'll probably be consumed for hours and hours just looking at the whole thing. it was designed totally by yours truley, except the news system that was built by [a href=\"http://tachyondecay.net\" target=\"_blank\"]tachyon[/a]. I built the Circle question thing from scratch, it's still a work in progress, and I'm sure there are plenty of typos.
steviewdr
Its not too bad.The validation banners look totally out of place -> and sure well at least one of your page doesnt validate:[a href=\"http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.btcartoons.uni.cc%2Fcarts.php\" target=\"_blank\"]http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%....cc%2Fcarts.php[/a]Im not gone on the colours - but it seems to work ok.On that carts page - the blue links are hard to read. Perhaps some line height would be nice to spread it out some more.Rgds, steve
koolaidman52
Ok, Thanks for the insight, The whole site is valid now, I changed everything you mentioned except for the jigsaw pictures and the color scheme, because it's a throw back to the first design that we had that I really put a lot of effort into.anything else is appreciated too :)
ober
Honestly... it looks like a giant mess.1) White text on a black background is extremely dark and depressing. It also adds zero contrast to the content.2) That entire header area is a mess and looks VERY poorly designed.3) I don't get the little "pop-out" news thing at the top. Not only is it annoying to roll over, but there's no need for something like that. You have so little content on the main page so why don't you just put it there??And it's a complete wreck in Opera. koolaidman52
Can you show me a screen shot of what you are talkinga bout?, I've never used opera, and I want to fix whatever is wrong, I know there are slight deviations in the design from IE to Firefox but it sound like a storm came through and demolished the whole thing. Also what the hell is zero contrast?I can kind of see switching out the news thing considering it was put up at the top at the last minute because i wasn;t sure where else to put it, and it's been a year and I still haven't done anything. ober
[a href=\"http://www.whproductions.com/images/btc.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"]http://www.whproductions.com/images/btc.jpg[/a]zero contrast means there is no distinction between what is and what is not the content area. It just sort of blends into the background of the entire page.
koolaidman52
I redesigned the whole thing and put up the tenative version, I'd really like to know what you guys think of this new version as it is certainly still far from official.I tried to keep everyones comments in mind while designing this, and I even used the color scheme tool that's in the resourse post. Anyway, check it out, tell be you free, you guys are great.I'd also like to know what it's like in opera.
moberemk
No time for a long, detailed critique yet. But your nav system is using divs instead of <a> tags. What's up with that?
ober
It's better... not great. I don't understand whether you're trying for a full-width site or a fixed-width. Your content is centered and fixed-width, yet your header and footer are full-width and not centered. It looks very odd at large resolutions.I also don't get the need for internal scrolling. I never did on any site. That forces me to use your scrollbar instead of the browser's. I think your nav font size could be a tad smaller. It's huge right now.It is also VERY hard to read red on that god-awful green color you're using in the news section. The news section is also very choppy and random... it doesn't have a good flow to it. Also keep in mind that text wasn't meant to be read against a dark background! It's hard on the eyes.
