TheFilmGod
Is it possible to hook up a monitor to a laptop and use the monitor and the laptop's screen as a dual monitor image? I was hoping to use the monitor as the "browser / phpmyadmin" monitor and use the laptop's screen as the php file / html text editor monitor. This just seems so much more efficient. Thanks in advance! Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/116094-laptop-and-another-monitor/ Share on other sites
.josh
Maybe... considering we have no idea what kind of laptop/OS/everything else you have...there's no way we can give you an answer... .josh
Based on that info, you probably should be able to. Hook up your monitor, rightclick somewhere on your desktop properties > settings > advanced > monitor You may find some options for using both laptop monitor and plug and play monitor. Or look at the sub-menus from there. That's about the best I can do without having your laptop sitting in front of me. zq29
This should be possible, we have an HP laptop in our meeting room, the VGA port on that is hooked up to a projector and we use that as the second screen. I think I just went into the monitor settings, selected the newly detected display and hit the 'extend my desktop onto this display' checkbox. GingerRobot
Just tried it out on my dell. As soon as i plugged in the other monitor, it detected it and asked me what i wanted to do with it. Otherwise, the option is there from right clicking the desktop and clicking personalize->display settings (on vista).
