Hey all,

just curious how many of you guys have coded or programmed an online community before?

was it hard? is it still working?  can you post it? how did you market it?

Looking at other major online communities what features do you think are critical?  and...

what features have you never seen on a community before, but think it would be great to have?

Thanx Ya'll

Well then maybe you should have said forum instead of community.  But to me that kind of restricts the definition of a community. The main site is part of this 'community;' people can post tutorials and news and blogs etc.. and comment on them etc.. imo that's very similar to what a forum can do.  The main site and the forum make up the community.

What's the "main site"?  All I see is a SMF forum here with a couple mods.  I agree with shank that a forum is a community.  To create a forum is quite simple, and there are many free ones out there.  I think there is a sticky, or at least a topic, on peoples' opinions on best forums.  There are many engines that provide you with online communities it just depends on what you're looking for.  And of course, most of the good ones aren't free ;/
