dezkit
I recently noticed that [ php ] [ /php ] is now the same as [ code ] [ /code ]. What happened to [ php ] [ /php ]? corbin
<?php back_in_the_day_you_had_to_use_starting_quotes(); ?> Wonder if that's still true. Edit: Looks like it's not. Weird. dezkit
I would love for it to come back, it's so much better than [ code ] Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/124575-what-ever-happened-to-php-php/#findComment-643444 Share on other sites

GingerRobot
Mainly because people were incapable of using the correct one at the correct time. .josh
Mainly because people were incapable of using the correct one at the correct time. pfft. I'd settle for even that. My main beef (as far as this is concerned) is people being incapable of using tags at all. Daniel0
I hated the old tags. They didn't use a monospaced font and there was no scrolling for huge amounts of code. It'll not be reverted. 448191
Personally, I liked the old PHP tags. Especially for small code fragments. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/124575-what-ever-happened-to-php-php/#findComment-643959 Share on other sites
Daniel0
Well, maybe, but people also used them for huge code fragments. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/124575-what-ever-happened-to-php-php/#findComment-643965 Share on other sites
Mchl
echo 'Hello World"; This is weird. The code in php tags here is: echo 'Hello World"; Note that the first ' is missing. 448191
Well, maybe, but people also used them for huge code fragments. Seems a bit unfair to the people that aren't stupid. dezkit
Bump, how about a petition to bring them back, eh? P.S. Sorry if bumps are against the rules. Edit: I think that [ php ] is better than the [ code ] because the php one is good for small code fragments and it looks much much prettier than [ code ] Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/124575-what-ever-happened-to-php-php/#findComment-674582 Share on other sites
Daniel0
Read the above posts: 1) No monospaced font face 2) People do use them for large amounts of code which result in a very long page Both of those two points make it more difficult to read the code. dezkit
2) How about a restriction to the amount of lines? For example: 10-15 lines. 1) What is a monospaced font face? Daniel0
2) How about a restriction to the amount of lines? For example: 10-15 lines. Not possible. 1) What is a monospaced font face? Mono- = alone/single/one. Space = space. I.e. a font where all glyphs have a single amount of space. Could for instance be Courier. That's opposed to for instance Helvetica where e.g. m is wider than n.
