That kind of sounds scare and accusatory... is it?

 

Anyways, I thought the idea behind open source communities is kind of a "Survival of the fittest" or "Natural selection" mentality.  That is, if you make something openly available, it will stand or fall on its own, instead of hiding behind 'walls.' Also, it broadens the creativity pool, because it stands to reason that 10 heads are better than 1.

The major downside is that your code is readily available for everyone else to see.  This means more exploits/hacks are going to be found, which could be good if they report them, and of course bad if they don't.
