jcombs_31
Your reflections shouldn't be on two different surfaces and they should also fade out.
cupidstoejam
Dude, this header is amazing! Can you sence my sarcasm. No, really, it needs more. Text is too small with such a large background. Maybe you're planning on putting other things in this header, but as is... needs more.
dropfaith
wth was that made on one of those image generators like cooltext.com ?
moon 111
How about this: http://www.kingdavidwebdesign.com/header1_reflect_fade.png And, no, it was made with GIMP. BTW, dropfaith, have you looked at the newer ones, or just the one on top?
dropfaith
ive looked at all of them they just seem bland to me for a header image
moon 111
Well what am I supposed to have? I'm trying to keep it simple.
nrg_alpha
You can keep things simple, yet still add some *pizzaz* to it.. perhaps a subtle horizontal tiling gradient as a background? You can embed a highlight on the top and a darker line along the bottom of this tiling image. Give it a subtle embossed look. Perhaps a small little logo added before the lettering? There are ways to spruce it up without going completely overboard.
moon 111
The horizontal tiling sounds interesting, but I wouldn't know how to do that. Any tutorials etc.? (using GIMP prefferably)

moon 111
By the way, this is for a Babysitting website, meaning that most of my audience is not the kind of person who can really appreciate web 2.0, so I don't know how much more I can risk adding. And, anyway, I'm out of ideas...
cupidstoejam
How 'bout a cool image that has to do with babysitting under your scanlines. make it appeal to your audience more. The header is the first thing the view will look at, it should tell them what to expect. This header doesnt tell me anything.
moon 111
This header doesnt tell me anything. Oh, really? If you paid attention you would probably notice that I like water, am probably under 30, and, obviously, don't speak greek, because at this stage it should say alpha not beta. My graphics skills extend as far as making gradients, adding text, and following a tutorial. I really can't see myself making (or buying) a nice icon. By the way, do you think the last one I posted is good enough to make do as is?
DarkWater
Maybe, but I don't think it should be that wide. >_<
moon 111
Well, I haven't made the rest of my design. I'll just resize it accordingly once I do.
