1) Yes, hundreds of websites use php/mysql for their forums, including this one.

2) No, I don't think there are any tutorials specifically for making a forum on THIS site, because it's a fairly involved process. I'm sure there are some out there on other sites that some well phrased searching can find.

If you don't feel like coding, just look for PHPBB, which is a nice PHP/MySQL Forum setup.

Well I think he wants to learn from it, hence him asking for a tutorial.

 

@op: If you can't find a sufficient tutorial on the subject, try taking apart an existing free php/mysql forum (like SMF, PHPBB, etc.) to see how it works!
