I did find out during my poking around that the main site search function kind of sucks.

 

How? In terms of hit relevancy or the layout?

 

You can in fact use quite complex search queries, e.g. security AND type:tutorial AND author:Daniel0 will only return tutorials written by me where the title or body contains the word "security".
