Create a cron job

Create your PHP script that inserts 500 bullets when the script runs.

Next go to your control panel, and add a cron job.

If you have a linux server, otherwise you would do the equivalent of a cronjob for windows which is the 'task scheduler'.

If you have server access and can add a cron job (unix) or scheduled task (windows) this is just a case of writing your script (you can use php) and setting up a job to call it every hour.

If you don't then one way to do it would be to use php's register_shutdown_function.

You would need a database table to record when it was last run and you check that every page load (maybe only in your /index.php). If it's been an hour then you call your shutdown function (your hourly script). This is far from ideal but it's one way of getting around having no server access.

This thread is more than a year old. Please don't revive it unless you have something important to add.
