Firefox performance boost

I'm not sure if this has already been posted before.. a quick forum search I made on firefox performance didn't yield the desired results (at least not that I seen). So if this has been thrown around before (which wouldn't surprise me tbh), my apologies.

I tried the tips listed here:

And wow.. it is faster to be sure... doesn't feel as bloated. Granted, I still use Chrome as my weapon of choice, but for webdev, I prefer FF, and following the performance modifications to about:config was nice to see feel snappier.

I just implemented the suggestions mentioned in that article and I definitely see performance improvements.  Reducing the amount of RAM during minimization is one of my favorites.

I would use Chrome, but it's still "in-progess" for Linux.  It's clearly faster for browsing, but, like you said, for development environment I like FF support and plug-ins much better.

Warning: Please read this reply for potential issues these modifications may cause:

EDIT: But after reading this reply, it may be well worth it.

Yeah, sounds like fair warning for sure.. I'm ultimately not too concerned with them, as I don't use firefox for heavy browsering and whatnot. FF is truly secondary overall for me.. if it ultimately botches things, I can always reinstall if it need to come down to that. So I'm not terribly concerned. I was curious about the speed increase, and it is faster as a result.

I think there is performance issues like using less ram and whatnot (I'm not terribly knowledgeable when it comes technical browser issues).

So if FF is fast enough for you, then all the better. For me, I definitely see a speed increase to be sure (which is always welcoming -  especially given I am working on this crappy slow laptop). Granted, since I don't use FF as my main browser, it probably doesn't matter in my case whether I try it out or not. I just saw that article and gave it a shot. So far, so good.
