[SOLVED] What to do if lost computer password?

Recommended Posts

are using xp or vista? or mac?

With xp you can go into safe mode and then go the administrator account from which you can remove the password for the other accounts.

Vista is hard to do without an external program, same with mac (you can use mac os cd)

Assuming it's not, you know, password protected. I'm pretty sure the XP installer prompts you for a password for the admin account.

1. Install on other HDD

2. Copy files from the old to the new. You'll have to reset permissions for anything in "My Documents" to be able to access it. Disable simple permissions in folder options to get the permission tab.

3. Tada.

Your need a admin kit.

The best one on the market is ERD emergency recovery disk .

there no other real way.

if ypu cannot log on as an administrator, unfortunately, you may have to reinstall Windows XP

Xcoderx, you never seem to be able to tell when someone is joking. CV is a jokester. He likes to be funny and sarcastic. It should be pretty obvious he was being sarcastic considering NASA and computer OSes have nothing in common.

No I wasn't saying you made it up.  I believe it.  I mean look here, you just put my in my place just like that.  That means you must be real smart, just like them nasa people.  Yep, you definitely have nasa blood in you all right.  Thanks for the suggestion!
