Im trying to create two chained select fields using a guide I found online. The page loads fine my error does not occur until I select the first option in the preloaded select box. When I do that I get the following error:

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/include/session.php:480) in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/include/session.php on line 46

I have never had this kind of issue before so Im clueless as to why its happening. Ill post the two involved files below (index.php,sessiong.php):

You can't call drop_1() until you've created $session.

That code doesn't belong there anyways. Move it to a more appropriate location.

I had the code in a file called fun.php and it created a diffrent error that I have never seen before either its:

Fatal error: Call to a member function confirmUserID() on a non-object in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/include/session.php on line 99

the code is now out of session.php and in a file called func.php:

<?php

//**************************************
//     Page load dropdown results     //
//**************************************
function getTierOne()
{
$result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM catagories ORDER BY name ASC")
or die(mysql_error());

  while($tier = mysql_fetch_array( $result ))

	{
	   echo '<option value="'.$tier['id'].'">'.$tier['name'].'</option>';
	}

}

//**************************************
//     First selection results     //
//**************************************
if($_GET['func'] == "drop_1" && isset($_GET['func'])) {
   drop_1($_GET['drop_var']);
}

function drop_1($drop_var)
{
include '../include/session.php';
$result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM courses WHERE pid='$drop_var'")
or die(mysql_error());

echo '<select name="tier_two" id="tier_two">
      <option value=" " disabled="disabled" selected="selected">Choose one</option>';

	   while($drop_2 = mysql_fetch_array( $result ))
		{
		  echo '<option value="'.$drop_2['id'].'">'.$drop_2['name'].'</option>';
		}

echo '</select> ';
    echo '<input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" />';
}
?>

is it not already defined though because the code:

//**************************************
//     Page load dropdown results     //
//**************************************
function getTierOne()
{
$result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM catagories ORDER BY name ASC")
or die(mysql_error());

  while($tier = mysql_fetch_array( $result ))

	{
	   echo '<option value="'.$tier['id'].'">'.$tier['name'].'</option>';
	}

}

works in the fun.php file

this is the function it is coming from, I have put a 99. beside line 99 that the error says its comming from. The chained select fields have nothing to do this.

The $database variable is not an object. You would need to troubleshoot why include("database.php"); either isn't including the file or why the database.php code isn't being seen as php code or isn't creating an instance of the database class in the $database variable.
