WeLink

The reason your layout is bad - is because you use tables. You need to start using CSS. Really!

Your footer should be spread out horizontally - not vertically as you have it making you scroll down even further.

You need to define your areas better. Your Navigation Bar needs to be more evident and stronger.

The login on the top right - can be dressed up with css to look way better. An article on slashdot covers a css book - where there is a free chapter on....guess what.....form design with css ->
http://books.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/11/20/1536213

If you do a proper graphic/logo for the top of your website - instead of WeLink - it will set your website on the right path.

unfortunately, in its current state it has not much going for it:
1) seems to take ages to load
2) clogged with google ads (or at least it seems that way)
3) blue and green should never be seen, as the saying goes. sure, there are exceptions.
4) no logo, just some text rammed in the corner.
5) default font
6) uses default text for submit buttons (ie, Submit)
7) it doesnt validate - and with 51 errors on your homepage alone, considering that it's quite simple, this is not good.
8) it's not immediately obvious what it is
9) nothing on the WeLink categories page is clickable, which you'd expect it to be
10) it has a hit counter. these take me back into the realm of bad 90's sites where everything was all about how many hit counters and animated GIF's you could show, with comic sans thrown in for good measure. only YOU really need to know how good (or bad) your site is doing in terms of traffic, so no need to advertise it.

TBH, it seems like you've not made much effort. everythings slow, untidy, invalid and pretty sparse. some people set up sites and fill them with gooooooogle ads to make money. some make forums so they can experience being an admin of something. some do both.

sorry i couldnt be more positive.

lol its good to be negative ive never made a site before so i dont know anything about it tbh this is like seeing what a site needs tpye thing just testing with things and what not.

and i know its pritty poorly made but as i said its my first ever atempt.

also when i have the time i will remove the google ads as i must agree they look crap, ill sort the footer out changes colours also stick the navigation on the right side of the main box....might look better also youll know where it is.

yeah i know the catagories part isnt finnished yet i need to get round to doing that, was going to make a expandable table of contants but dont know if it would look any good.

General:
    - Background makes my eyes bugger out
    - Loading times are a bit on the slow side for a site with just text

The Left Navigation  :
    - You're using different sized fonts when 1 size could be used
    - In FireFox the forum items spill out past the left border
    - The black font with dark blue background for the menu headers is hard to read

Colors:
    - There seems to be no color scheme?

Google Ads:
    - Its hard to read and I thought it was a regular link not an ad ;)

Header:
      - Perhaps increasing its height and adding images or such?
      - A logo of sorts would look good

i'll answer your original question:
"what in your opinoin would i need to add to this site to make you come back?"
the best answer i can give you is "tell me what on earth this site is for."  i had no idea after looking around for a half minute or so, and had already made up my mind not to come back.  why?  not necessarily because of the bad layout (which the others have done a nice job of critiquing for you, so i won't hash that out), but because i didn't know what the bloody thing was.  if i don't know what it is, i have no use for it, and have no reason to come back.

make your site's point obvious for dumb people like me.  that might be a good start.
