question after generating the new key i need to send parts of a new gnupg keys to a friend - which one!?

The public one. You know, for sharing publicly. With the public.

It should also be obvious from the UI. For example, Engimail explicitly asks if you want to export the secret keys as well (in which case you additionally have to provide the passphrase).

 

In any case, you should check the file content before sending it. Never share anything other than
