What is difference between ALIAS domain and MASK redirect and CNAME?

Recommended Posts

hello dear Community,

What is difference between the ALIASING of a domain and MASK redirect and CNAME?
can anybody explain me the difference between - ALIAS domain and MASK redirect -... and third CNAME?

a CNAME is DNS "alias" for a certain Hostname. eg. if we have the following

foo IN A 127.0.0.1
bar IN CNAME foo

regarding the Server: i would say most Servers can serve more than one homepage under the same IP.
(this is called a Named Based Virtual Host)

The so called Alias (ServerAlias) is a principle that is being used in Apache Vhost -
You can do this by the configuration to let a Vhost appear under different hostnames.

love to hear from you

How did you manage to copy a question word-for-word from 2011 and not see the answer?
