Sounds like a great opportunity to learn something new. I just happen to know about a great PDO tutorial that is easy to understand with great copy/paste code examples. If you get stuck with it come on back and we will help you out.

Which is why I linked you to a tutorial that shows you how to fix your mysqli code and use prepared statements.  Did you bother to look at that?  Did you make an attempt to refactor your code?
