neylitalo
Microsoft Office 2007 supports the Open Document standard, which is used in OpenOffice, but I have a little question. I'm hoping that MS Office 2007 uses ODF formats by default, but I'm betting that's too much to ask of them. Can someone who has Office 2007 help me out with this? I just want to know if it uses ODF by default or not. You can find more information on the Open Document standard at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenDocument Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/33801-ms-office-2007-and-open-document/ Share on other sites
Daniel0
I have a beta version of it on my desktop. It uses its new docx (xlsx etc.) as default. I suppose it's the same in the final version. neylitalo
Do you suppose you could create a simple text document and attach it here? I would like to see if that's just the Microsoft extension for the ODF documents. The most popular extensions are .odt, .ods, .odp, but I believe the ODF standard allows for other file extensions. Daniel0
Hmm... it seems like it doesn't after all. I was SO sure that it did, but when trying to create a sample document I couldn't find that format in the file type drop down list. I found this on Google though: http://odf-converter.sourceforge.net/ Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/33801-ms-office-2007-and-open-document/#findComment-158633 Share on other sites
neylitalo
Well, that would kinda defeat the purpose - I use Linux, therefore I use OpenOffice, which uses ODF by default. I guess the answer I was hoping for was that Microsoft used the ODF formats by default, so it would become the de facto standard. Daniel0
Well, they would have to had added it after beta 2, but I highly doubt they did that. But you, as well as me, have heard it would support it. I wonder where I got that from... :-\ Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/33801-ms-office-2007-and-open-document/#findComment-158658 Share on other sites
