Photo gallery navagation.. any feedback?

I decided to code my gallery script so that clicking on the photo moves the viewer to the next photo, not the larger version.. and I am not sure how I feel about it?

Therefore, I wanted to ask for feedback concerning the navigation of my photo gallery.  Any feedback is greatly appreciated!  Also, any other comments regarding its look and feel/usability would be great.

See http://www.kilbad.com/photos/heartwalk/ for example, or http://www.kilbad.com/photos/ for the album directory..

Thank you all in advance..  sorry if you don't like it.. I'm a novice that's still learning..

I was debating (1) left and right buttons, versus (2) clicking on the picture to move to the next photo.  However, after using facebook.com, which uses the latter type of photo navigation, and really liking it, I decided to go with (2).

Is this something that you feel visitors will find irritating?

Thanks so much for the feedback.. brendan

It looks nice. The place for the description, and the View larger image - is nice.

As for moving onto the next slide etc. - It is NOT apparent that click goes to the next slide. I bet - a lot of ppl wont realise this and will be clicking the BACK button on their internet browser.
So - you either need a note saying: Click image for next image, or put an arrow which does the same purpose as clicking on the image, or 3 - do what "gallery" does, and overlay a div ontop of the image with a arrow a:hover showing that clicking moves to next image.

Example is here:

That is pretty cool!  So I integrated that type of navigation into my gallery script.  However, two follow-up questions::

(1) Are those navigation arrows copyrighted?  If so, where can I find a person to ask permission to modify/use them?
(2) Since I basically relied on someone else to come up with the concept of this navigation, who/where/and what do I cite to give them credit? Do I also need to ask permission?

Thanks again, you have all been so helpful.. let me know what you think..

Its simply a theme in gallery. Different themes have different arrows etc. Here is another one:
http://www.sineadandchris.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=3880&g2_enterAlbum=0

It has 3 clickable hotareas - left | center | right
left - back
right - forward
center - larger image

I dont know about copyright issues. I suggest you download gallery yourself.

On a last note -> I thought of making my own photo gallery, because I always wanted a cut down/minimilistic interface - However I went with gallery. It has very minimilistic themes, allows for comments, ratings. These can be simply removed. At first I though gallery was too heavy weight - however I have easily cut it down to a neat and clean level.

@steviewdr - actually, I was using gallery for a long time, but felt that is was "too heavy weight" as well.  I agree, it can be cut down significantly, but not enough for me to keep it.  However, without a doubt, the gallery is the best option out there for people who don't want to code their own.
