The @ Operator?

generic wasn't being a jerk.
If you'd looked on the FAQ board, there's a post about @.
Also, you knew to call it an operator. Did you look in the documentation under operators? There's only a few pages, and skimming through them and searching for @ shows that it's on the error control operators page. Also, just searching the PHP docs for "at sign" using the php.net search resulted in plenty of hits for the page.

Whenever you have a question of this type, go to the [url=http://www.php.net/manual/en/index.php]manual[/url].
In this case, hit [url=http://www.php.net/manual/en/language.operators.php]operators[/url] (under language reference), and then look for the @ operator. You'll find it under [url=http://www.php.net/manual/en/language.operators.errorcontrol.php]error-control operators[/url] with a wide explanation about it, including examples.
