trecool999
Hey, Is it possible to use an iFrame to view a file on your hard drive? I tried using 'file:///' and everything but... not a chance.
ToonMariner
not in FF - that doesn't allow local access - but why would you want to? The remote server can't check you have the right file path so its not really a useful tool.
trecool999
FF being...? It's weird though, I can access html files on my computer without an IFrame. But when I stick the link into an iFrame, it just comes up blank...

But when I stick the link into an iFrame, it just comes up blank... This is a security mechanism. When you go to file:// you are requesting a file from your own computer, and you are authorized. However, an iFrame is not authorised because it is requesting the file on behalf of the server. Can you imagine if an iFrame could have a src of file://C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe and then why not file://C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe del * or something like that - very bad.
