ms1990kl
Hi, I am developing an online store for my wife. I have a very nice website laid out and am using cartweaverPHP, written by Tom Muck. It have it working beautifully on my Apache server on my own computer, but it simply does not work right on Yahoo. Yahoo is having all kinds of trouble with the includes that are at the heart of Cartweaver. Something about the way yahoo has php.ini setup or something. They have been useless in helping me, and Tom Muck says that yahoo is crappy with PHP and I should switch. My question is this. Can somebody give me a good, bulletproof web hosting service that works great with PHP and MySQL. I am about to have a stroke dealing with yahoo. Thanks in advance for any help you can give. spfoonnewb
How about GoDaddy? Isn't that worse? I would go check out http://www.webhostingtalk.com to see what's good and what's not so great.
tomfmason
1 terrabyte bandwidth monthly. Be very careful when dealing with hosting companies that offer high amounts of bandwidth and ds for a low price like that. Basically what is happening, they are over booking there servers in the hopes that you will not use the alloted space/transfer. If you have someone(Like me) that really uses all of the space/transfer alloted you will notice a serious drop in server performance. So for something like a store or really anything that is important I would stay away from hosting companies like that.
TRI0N
Jumpline is one of the best that I know of with 80 Gbit speeds and 40 Gbit in Europe. They alos host almost all the govenment website, FBI, CIA, DOD, and who knows what others at their location. Their huge and have performed outstanding towards my clients needs in support, hosting, and speed. I have yet to hear a client yet say they don't like their services. pkirsch
Good Day! Hello Friends! I have a Web-Host to suggest! Currently i am using "Lunarpages"! I really like them and highly recommend them! I have had my share of hosts, so i know what I'm talking about! I have had no problems yet! (hope it stays this way!) Best of luck finding your perfect match! Ok so here's lunarpages "basic plan": $6.95 per month (for a two year plan; $7.95 per month for a one year plan) Storage: 250 Gb Bandwidth: 2500 GB/Month MySQL Databases: Unlimited Dreamweaver Compatible Sub Domains: Unlimited Ftp Accounts: Unlimited Email Accounts: Unlimited Thats just the start! Heres their basic plan page http://www.lunarpages.com/basic-hosting/ P.s - When you sign up they will put you on PHP 4 so (depending on what "Cartweaver" needs) you can request that they give you PHP 5! I did and it took all of 10 Minutes! I hope this helps! pkirsch

Actually, now, I have around 250 megs space, and about 2.5 terrabytes of bandwidth, it goes up each week as their way of saying thanks for hosting with us. I found them by a stroke of luck. I have had a few problems with the site being down for a few minutes at a time, sometimes longer, not usually though. There have been times where I've used around 700 gigs bandwidth (in one week, to boot), with no drop at all in performance...I was mirroring a 350 meg file that was SUPER popular on a Halo forum, it was crazy. I do appreciate your concern though.
JasonLewis
i to stay away from hosts that offer large amounts of space/bandwidth that dosnt seem reasonable. if you go to http://www.flexy-hosting.com/forum/ i am sure you can request free hosting, and they are reliable, trust me. i know one of the owners in person. TRI0N
I think the fact he is looking for a site to sell things is being overlooked.. I don't think anyone gives free hosting to a website that makes money selling things. Seriously doubt you will get any reliable host without spending $20.00 per month the Jumpline Package for $15.95 is for a year based per month package or $19.95 per month pay as you go.. The package must allow him to have SSL for secure payment processing. Basic packages that are like 6-10 per month usually do not have SSL as a offered feature. JasonLewis
the OP dosnt have to manage money on his own server though. you can simply go through paypal or some other secure online money processing website. but whatever is easiest i guess. ms1990kl
Thanks everybody for your responses. I think I have plenty of choices, now. I just went with yahoo a few years ago when I was first starting, and have had no trouble until I started using PHP. Thanks again, Michael Smith
