Best order for anchor styles

Morning all, here's my styles:

 

a:link {color: #e0ffe0; text-decoration: none;}
a:active {color: #80ff80; text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {color: #e0ffe0; text-decoration: none;}
a:hover {color: #40ff40; text-decoration: none; cursor: pointer}
a.menu:link {font: 10px verdana; color: #e0ffe0; text-decoration: none;}
a.menu:active {font: 10px verdana; color: #80ff80; text-decoration: none;}
a.menu:visited {font: 10px verdana; color: #e0ffe0; text-decoration: none;}
a.menu:hover {font: 10px verdana; color: #40ff40; text-decoration: none; cursor: pointer}

 

A while back I posted similar styles here and was advised that the order I've chosen above isn't the best and I was wondering if someone would be able to advise me as I can't remember what the reason was.

if you put a.menu first then the subsequent declaration of 'a' would overwrite them. a.menu will only apply to a class="menu" so all other a tags will have the original style.

This also might cut down on some time:

a {color: #e0ffe0; text-decoration: none;}
a:hover {color: #40ff40; text-decoration: none; cursor: pointer}

.menu a {font: 10px verdana; color: #e0ffe0; text-decoration: none;}
.menu a:hover {font: 10px verdana; color: #40ff40; text-decoration: none; cursor: pointer}

 

which should give you the same result.
