Hi, thanks for your reply.

I've got a few tools that track everything.

Webtrends is one of them.

But, It needs to be a bespoke system as it (so far) tracks

if they came from Email, Fax and Adwords.

I now need it to track if they came from a google

search, or another search.

I'm building a system that will display a unique code

on each page depening on where they came from,

which page there on and the date.

For Example:

Quote 21-3-A = cheap mobile calls - service.php - Adwords

This code is then quoted over the phone.

Its the best way of tracking convertions from keyword input

to sales.

Sorry for the long explanation.  :)

So, if you know of any good articles on how to do it,

that would be great.

Thanks

:)

Unless the refering site sends extra data (ie a url to your site looks like... http://yoursite.com/?ref=data) you can't do it. All you can do is check $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'] and even that can be spooked.

By the time a user gets to your site, and previous requests data is long gone.

Hi.

I did a search on $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']

and found these:

$ipaddress = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];

$referrer = $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'];

$datetime = mktime();

$useragent = $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'];

$remotehost = @getHostByAddr($ipaddress);

They might help someone else.

:)
