[SOLVED] Computer Question

Recommended Posts

I've never owned or used an alienware, but the consensus from others I know who custom build is "overpriced garbage."  Usually this is made in reference to desktop systems.

I don't know a single person that's ever built their own laptop, it just doesn't seem to be worth the effort.  If you wanted a gaming laptop, and I'm really not sure why anyone would, I guess alienware may be a viable option.

where do you guys recommend me to buy computers good ones with good technology?

All computers use the same technology; what separates them is the quality of the parts that manufacturers put into them.  That $300 desktop system in Best Buy or Frys is an intel chip and a Windows License packaged into the cost, so you know the rest of the parts are pure crap.

Since your target is a laptop, I'd go with well-known manufacturer.  I have a Dell provided by my work and it works very well.  Granted all I do is program, use instant messaging, check e-mail, and occasionally visit you-tube.  I've also heard good things about Toshiba laptops and to some extent gateway.

I don't know if either of these companies make laptops, but you want to avoid compaq and lexmark at all costs.

thanks everyone for the replies

well I need a powerful, fast and good performance PC  I want it for music recording and fast software download, I bought a few months ago an acer aspire and it worked great, bought it on wal mart but I returned it because I made a mistake anyhow,  I'm willing to spend up to 2,000 dollars but for that price I want a good one ya know I live in the U.S. in Arizona the problem is that I live on a small town where there aren't many options to choose from, so I prefer to buy online and my question is where?  there are loads of places that sell PC's  but some of 'em sell pure crap or low budget desktops and laptops that won't work for me

thanks again  I'll try the ones u guys suggested

I have one more question are sager and alienware trustable brands to buy from?

I've personally overseen the purchase of a few dozen (25, to be exact) Sager machines, and they've all gone off without a hitch. We did a trial run of five machines, just to see what they were like, and then ordered the rest after they surpassed our expectations. They ran cool, had awesome displays, and the users had no trouble with the keyboards and touchpads. (The primary trouble areas in notebook machines.) I would buy from Sager without a second's hesitation.

And while I don't have any experience with Alienware computers, they're very well known and reputable, so I figure they must be doing something right. And since they are now a subsidiary of Dell, I would think that they could be trusted completely.
