Get a hybrid. they may be more expensive, but at least you will have a player that will p[lay whatever discs win the HD vs. BluRay war. steelmanronald06 Posted December 18, 2007 Share Posted December 18, 2007 I would personally go with a BluRay player. The quality of BluRay currently surpasses that of HD-DVD. At Best Buy we sell way more BluRay than HD-DVD. Plus, I've even had a customer return their HD-DVD for a BluRay because they seen BluRay at a friends and liked the quality more than their HD-DVD. Granted there will be others who swing the other way, but I can tell you that not only do our customers prefer it, but so do our employees...There are so many other reasons as well, but I would actually have to copy and paste all the posts about it from our cooperate forums in order to show you just how many people like BluRay over HD-DVD. zq29 Posted December 18, 2007 Share Posted December 18, 2007 I've read everywhere that HD-DVD has the edge on quality too... Personally, I think HD-DVD will win out of the two - Most of Sonys proprietary formats and technologies appear to die out or have little success: Betamax, Minidisc, Hi-MD, UMD, ATRAC, SDDS, SACD.
