What would happen if google went under??

Well i was looking through the forum and i noticed so many times:

 

"Gotta love Google"

"Thank god for Google'

and the likes so i was thinking, what would happen to the internet if google went under?

has google become the internet?

Results 1 - 10 of about 2,230,000,000 for internet

 

hmm there are nearly as many pages about google as there are for the internet itself...

of course these came from google but you know

Google is simply the "big" search engine. If it went under another search engine would take over. Like yahoo search interface. There isn't much to it. Simply a search to find something online.

The same thing that happened before it came, we'd use Yahoo.

Another one would just replace, but things would be a little choatic for a while, eventually conforming to a new 'big search engine', like rev, film said: yahoo, etc..

It would definitely hurt the web but people would step up.

 

Google's mainstay is certainly search, but they have a whole slew of other products that are pretty well known, Google Maps, Gmail, Google API, site search, google buttons, analyitics, etc. These are services end users use and could disrupt business. Again, these are voids that could be filled, but it takes time and money to do that, so there would be a definite effect.
