I think I'll probably always use PHP for any web work, .NET and java don't interest me at all. Python is one language I want to get better at however. Though the more sys admin type stuff I do, the more I'm finding a need to know my way around Perl as well.

i wouldent write web apps in c++ compiled code, i would however liek to use C++ or C to create logic for machinery EG robots, ADA is the language to do that its like the PHP of the machinery language

Why not list other web dev frameworks, like Ruby on Rails, etc...?

 

And I'm sticking with PHP fo the time being

Although it's not a web format, I would like to learn more in C# so I selected C or C++ even though it's not the same.

I will continue to program in PHP as it's my primary language.

You haven't really given valid comparisons. Each language can be used for a multitude of things, for example PHP is primarily a web development language, although it's also a scripting language and can be used outside of the web. Dot Net for example covers many aspects, C Sharp, ASP.NET etc..

 

I will always stick to PHP for web development, although I still find myself inching closer and closer to Python. I'm fluent with C/C++ and those are my primary desktop development languages.

 

I will *always* avoid Java where ever possible.

 

I've never really took interest in Ruby, so I've never really used it, and I'm doubtful I ever will.

 

I use Perl quite often in *nix applications as well as Python.

I want to be good at PHP, C++, and maybe Java one day.  I would never limit my self to one language, like your poll does .

Well, I have never been a fan of the java language as it has not been a stable and efficient platform from application i have used based(Eclipse being the big one) so i try to say away from it if at all possible.  I already know C++ with a descent amount of knowledge of the core language aspects.  I think I have a very good knowledge of PHP and very happy about the late static binding changes that is comming to php 5.3.
