Errrr...  This is gonna be kinda harsh.

Yes it will be.

I looked at your html and it is bad. I see you are using a conditional statement to import a stylesheet only for ie. There is nothing wrong with that except that your website is so simple that there is no need to be "hacking" ie already. You do not need to add the < link href... for the favicon. This should be pulled off by default. Try checking your server configurations. Why are you using align="center"? This is deprecated. Use margin: 0 auto; or text-align: center; (only for text) if you want to center something.

I checked your css and it is even worse than your html. Since I am using ie6 I didn't understand why the copyright was at the top... but it turns out that the copyright is position: fixed; - why? And why is your cotent position: absolute; ? Why, why, why!?

background-color: #FFFFFF;
background-image: url(/images/background.gif);
background-repeat: repeat-x;

Should be:

background: url(/images/background.gif) repeat-x #fff;

Join all similar like declarations together.

........

I didn't even say a thing about how your website looks. - Because it doesn't matter. You can have bright colors mix blue and bright red together... in my eyes it's all the same. Semantic html is the first step to successfully producing a well crafted and engineered website.

i think im ready to reply to this!

as to the hacking . .  why not? IE and FF are different enough? its easier in the long run to be ready?

the favicon wasnt showing up right away when i uploaded it so i was seeing what would make it show up it seems to be holding without it so thats no big deal. i cant touch the server config . . gotta love restrictive webhosts :)

i just got in the habit of align="center" from where i learned HTML and never really switched . .  slowly i am trying to switch  i switched it out i think everywhere on the site.

the copyright was position fixed because for some reason i couldn't figure it out any other way . . . everything else put it on the top or in the middle of the page. i  got rid of all position declarations now maybe someone could tell me what im missing.

whats wrong with absolute?

again the CSS is just how i learned it the way you posted is that just "shorthand" any way? isnt my way MORE complete? i dont really see the need to swich that.

as to the design i just took the red off i was sick of it. still open to another color but im not sure thats needed the black seems like it might fit well.

thanks! and if i sound defensive i dont mean to be i appreciate the help and comments!
