gnawz
Dear all, I have a Redhat Linux box which manages my internal LAN and email. Sometimes, my website and some sites are not viewable from within the company but viewable outside. I sometimes have to restart the router but nothing happens. Is the Linux box affecting my network? What could be the problem? Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/121677-website-not-showing/ Share on other sites
trq
Where going to need more details. How exactly is this redhat box managing your LAN? Is it the router? Is the webserver (your website) behind this same router? Do you run internal DNS or is your webserver listed in the hosts files of your local machines? gnawz
It is not the router. The router is separate. But yes, we do run internal DNS. All internet correspondence like mail has to go through the BOX first. In fact whenever there is heavy mail flow, most cases that is when we can not view our website. Daniel0
Then you've answered your own question, haven't you? What is that box' function and is it even necessary to route everything through it? gnawz
Gurus, I really just need to know if the Linux box is what causes our website not to be viewable at times within our network. Like I said, it manages mail and network connections plus internal DNS. Thanks in advance. Daniel0
If it occurs when there is a spike in mail activity on that box then I would say, yes, the problem lies within that box. Iam not so good at Linux but know enough to set DNS and mail. Daniel0
We have the same problem here (I think). We do an hourly backup of the database and during that time the CPU usage jumps to 100% which results in unresponsiveness on the webserver. Unfortunately, we've yet to find a working solution to that problem. My connection is perfectly fine. Grrrr." Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/121677-website-not-showing/#findComment-628823 Share on other sites
Daniel0
Exactly. It'll occur for about a minute every hour. The only solution I see is to setup a MySQL replication server and do the backups there. We'll need another server to do that and I doubt Eric, the owner, will like that seeing as he already pays a lot of money for keeping this site running (way, way more than the donations give). Yeah, I can understand his situation. =P At least now I know why it does that. Thanks. @_@ Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/121677-website-not-showing/#findComment-628898 Share on other sites
