JasonLewis
I'm not a big fan of PHP books, I've skimmed through some at book stores but never actually read one. HeaDmiLe
I'm not a big fan of PHP books, I've skimmed through some at book stores but never actually read one. Why? Aren't they good enough or what? JasonLewis
I don't know, never read one. I just can't see myself reading that sort of book. I prefer other genre's, and I learn by looking at things on the internet. neylitalo
I learn best when I haven't deflated my wallet in the process. In all seriousness, though, I find that books on programming, especially books on such specific topics, are a waste of time. You can probably get the same (or better) information from a good tutorial, or by reading the manual. Books on theory, on the other hand, are an excellent purchase - any programming book I buy is not going to be riddled with code unless it's pseudo-code. redbullmarky
the biggest plus i find with books are that it takes you away from the computer. sometimes I need that especially when trying to be creative and are planning a project that's quite involved. As neylitalo states tho, books on theory are generally much better. PHP5 Objects, Patterns and Practices being one I find helps me alot when not actually sitting at my desk.
