Increase Wi-Fi Reach

The Little Guy

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried this: http://freeantennas.com/projects/template/

They say it works.

It is supposed to increase your wi-fi towards one direction, and decreases the signal the other direction. So.. If you place your router in the corner of your house and point the antenna towards the opposite end of the house you will increase the distance it can reach, and everything on the opposite side will have much lower signal.

What are your thoughts?

This could work. It not only directs the signal send from the AP into specific direction, but also increases receiving sensitivity in same direction, so the other device does not need to emit stronger signal.

I'm not sure how difficult would it be to achieve correct curvature, so that the AP antenna is in the focal point of parabolic reflector...

Why don't you try by yourself?

I'm at school/work right now ;)

You don't have foil and salad bowls at work?  You could show your boss how innovative and cost efficient you are.
