Well, I am looking at buying a new mini laptop, but can't decide between Dell Inspiron Mini 10 and Gateway LT2106u. Both laptops have similar specs/price and available at http://www.dealrocker.com with good discounts. I want to use it for surfing net, watching movie, listening to music and some office work. They don't have internal DVD drives so if you want to watch a film on the go you have to plug in an external drive (that adds to the price), plus you have a drive hanging off. Fine for the net and checking email, thats about it. To be honest I would stick a few more quid in the budget and get an entry level laptop that has a decent battery life. It will have a better spec. Between the two netbooks you have selected there is no difference. I would personally go for the Dell if I had to purely because the support is good on their website.
