WRT the question, the two php manual references are great, I never knew as there was 'nowdoc' & 'heredoc' methods; I shall have a read of those to see if there is any benefit to using these, or whether it is better to single or double quote (though I know there are some compile time issues/parser overhead issues being discussed on other sites...)
