OM2
I'm pulling my sleeves up and am on a mission to become a PHP master! Just wanted to know: should I learn to type? Would that help me code faster? YES: I know that the speed isn't everything - and that one's brain is far more important! But... you still need to repetitively type things over and over again - IDE helps, but you still have to do a lot of typing I'm a mean two finger typer! But would typing properly help me code faster? Thanks! OM Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/243940-should-i-learn-to-type-properly/ Share on other sites
AyKay47
well its not imparitive that you become the worlds fastest typer, but it would certainly help...it always helps to be able to look at the screen while typing, that way you can spot errors as you are typing.... Maq
I think you answered your own question. AyKay47
yeah very true, why go through the trouble to leanr how to type super fast when there are tools like IDE's out there that do alot of the work for you.. trq
yeah very true, why go through the trouble to leanr how to type super fast when there are tools like IDE's out there that do alot of the work for you.. Because once you can type, IDE's will get in your way. I moved to vim as my primary editor for that very reason - though I'm still not the best typist in the world, code completion and pop-ups of all sorts just slow me down. Nodral
I use EditPlus, Just the colour coding and the brace highlighting helps me spot errors. No nasty pop-ups and any autocompletions can be switched off if not required. I have this issue as well, which is why I originally went towards the "learn to type" choice..however for a beginner I will most certainly suggest the use of an IDE to aid them Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/243940-should-i-learn-to-type-properly/#findComment-1252588 Share on other sites
