Christian F.
The PHP manual is one of the best resources you can find, so staring there is highly recommended. Other than that, just read a lot of code, search for terms you come across, and write your own code. KevinM1
I'm a fan of getting a solid book with good, clear, concise examples. The best intro book I've found has been the Visual Quickstart Guide by Larry Ullman (http://www.amazon.com/PHP-MySQL-Dynamic-Web-Sites/dp/0321784073/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1348939212&sr=1-2&keywords=ullman). Hacym
When I was just starting out I just picked a small project and googled the different parts of how to do it. Learning by doing is always the best way, I think. drewdan
I was always quite fond of Sams Teach yourself PHP, MySQL and Apache, still have a copy for reference on my desk. It is good as it talks you through several small projects, like making a shopping cart or a forum. Its pretty simple but effective. You could always use the W3Schools website for reference. Its pretty handy too! Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/268912-complete-newb-questions-pls-help/#findComment-1381803 Share on other sites
Christian F.
I recommend staying far away from the W3Schools site: It's full of outdated, misleading or simply wrong information. Besides, anything they have on PHP is copied more or less straight from the PHP manual anyway. Pikachu2000
I'm a fan of getting a solid book with good, clear, concise examples. The best intro book I've found has been the Visual Quickstart Guide by Larry Ullman (http://www.amazon.co...keywords=ullman). I'll second that. Larry Ullman's books are pretty good. They're easy to follow and the information in them is as current and relevant as possible.
