I made this site really to add a string to the bow that is my portfolio and also because I thought I might make an interesting resource.

It's basically just a directory that specialises in computing; the advantage is that the categories and tags are more specifically honed for computing sites.

I've used Snap for the site image previews.  The site is PHP / MySQL-driven and uses Apache for the URL rewrite.  It is XHTML Transitional and is 100% div and CSS layout with no tables whatsoever.  The Add Site form uses AJAX to get a site's title and description from the server (only works for properly formatted sites though).

All graphics were done in Photoshop and all coding was done in TextWrangler.

Basically there are two types of listings, basic and advanced.  Basic links require no reciprocal link but the link is only seen by humans.  Conversely, there is an enhanced listing where you provide a reciprocal – this can be seen by both humans and search engines.

Add your site now, help out with the tags and categories and please let me know if you have any comments or criticisms.

There are well over 1000 sites already!

Issues I see:

1) light grey text on white background = hard to read
2) light green text on white background = hard to read
3) jumbles of grey text without much seperation makes it look sloppy
4) looks like another portal page

I'd spruce it up with a few images that match up with the categories to make things stand out more.  I'd really consider making the grey at least a few shades darker if not going closer to black completely.  I'd also consider changing the font... while it's kind of "pretty"... it's not the easiest to read.

And trust me, my eyesight is fine.

Otherwise, I like the layout and the design.
I pretty much agree with ober, but specially here

BTW, I got the same feedback from twilightnights ...

so I'm going to ask here (sorry to use this thread for this dude...)

WHAT DO YOU MEAN WITH
my desktop settings
???

Please let me know what do you mean with those settings so I can try it out here... Is it like FF themes or something like that?
This thread is more than a year old. Please don't revive it unless you have something important to add.
