tj71587
I am new to php and am redoing a website in the near future in need of a cms, which is the best? I have heard good things about drupal, is that the best? Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/68306-best-php-cms/ Share on other sites
steelmanronald06
The best is always your own. :-/ Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/68306-best-php-cms/#findComment-343474 Share on other sites
redbullmarky
CMS Made Simple. Easy to use/skin/expand but nice and useful straight out of the box. http://www.cmsmadesimple.org/ (a nod to AndyB for that one ) Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/68306-best-php-cms/#findComment-343517 Share on other sites
Azu
There is no "best". It's a matter of preference. If you could give us specific details about what kind of CMS you are looking for, maybe we can find one that will suit your needs good. jcombs_31
I think most bloggers seem to use wordpress. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/68306-best-php-cms/#findComment-343613 Share on other sites
Liquid Fire
I second "build your own". It may take longer in the beginning, but if you can do it, it will be the best CMS for you. redbullmarky
i sort of agree about rolling your own. however - and this is no reflection on tj71587 - but the original question "which is the best" would imply not enough practical experience with existing CMS's. Once you've played with a few, which you'd ideally need to before you can understand them properly to write your own, then you'd be able to answer that question (or give a good opinion) yourself. give some a go here: http://www.opensourcecms.com/ - i'd recommend staying well away from drupal to start with as it comes with a hefty learning curve for people new to CMS's. CMS Made Simple as I suggested will a) be good to learn the basics and b) more than enough for simple sites. tippy_102
For me, "the best" right now is TYPOlight: http://www.typolight.org/index.html The most popular seem to be Joomla and Drupal.
